Fort Worth to Host Region VII Conference The Region VII Annual Conference will be held in Fort Worth, Texas on May 5, 6, and 7, 2006. It will be at the Hilton Fort Worth Hotel (817-335-3408); the ESU room rate is $139. The hotel is at 815 Main Street; enter on 8th Street, just north of the Convention Center complex. This was formerly the Radisson Plaza.
The registration fee for the Conference is $150 per person. This includes all dinners, the Saturday lunch, a tour of the Kimbell Art Museum, meeting costs, and gratuities. Check-in will be in the hotel lobby on Friday, May 5, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. This will be followed by a Cash Bar Reception, in the hotel, from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Dinner will be from 7:00pm until 9:00 pm in the Cafe Texas in the hotel. There will be a guest speaker.
Saturday, May 6, will start with the Business meeting from 8:00 am until 12:30 pm. This will include a “Welcome” from the President of the Fort Worth Branch, Mr. Nick Haberer; reading of the minutes from last year’s meeting; a report from the ESU of the US National Headquarters by Mr. H. Vann Jensen, Director of Branch Services (Membership Development and Website network status); a Shakespeare Workshop by Ms. Martha Chawner; and Branch Reports by the Branch Presidents (please bring a written report, with enough copies for all Branches; there should be a 10 minute (maximum) oral summary).
At 1:00 pm we will have lunch at the Modern Art Museum. This will be followed by a guided tour of the Kimbell Art Museum by Dr. Ken Lawrence, retired TCU Professor of Art History, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. The Kimbell is across the street from the Modern. Six thirty that evening will find us at Fizzi restaurant (555 Main Street; four blocks from the hotel) for dinner. Following dinner you may cross the street to the Bass Performance Hall for a presentation of Cinderella by the Texas Ballet Company. Ticket prices (with our group discount) are: Upper Gallery - $14; Lower Gallery - $22; Side Boxes/Mezzanine - $33; Parterre - $44; Orchestra - $56; and Box Tier - $76.
