This active workshop is designed for teachers of all stages and ages. Participants will learn highly effective techniques for connecting all students to Shakespeare's language. Teachers will collaboratively practice scaffolded strategies that get students reading closely, asking good questions and citing textual evidence. Educators will not only workshop together, but also tour the special exhibition, First Folio! The Book That Gave Us Shakespeare (the exhibition having made its way from the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, DC, to the Cleveland Public Library). Participants will walk away with new knowledge about this historic book and its pedagogical possibilities in today's classrooms.
The ESU celebrates English as a shared language to foster global understanding and good will by providing educational and cultural opportunities for students, educators, and members.
