National Shakespeare Competition

The English-Speaking Union National Shakespeare Competition assists high school teachers across the country with their Shakespeare and language arts curricula. Through the competition, students are encouraged to develop their communication skills and an appreciation of the power of language and literature. 


2018 ESU Colonial North Carolina Shakespeare Competition

Schools in the New Bern/Eastern NC area (from VA to SC state lines) serving grades 9-12 are invited to participate.

School Competition

Complete 2018 School Participation Form by January 31, 2018

Notify the ESU Colonial North Carolina of your School Winner by completing the School Winner Entry Form by February 10, 2018

  • All School Winners must complete and return the Photo Release Form by February 10, 2018

Branch Competition Finals

10:00am, February 24, 2018 at Craven Community College (800 College Court, New Bern, NC 28562)

National Competition

The ESU Colonial North Carolina Branch Winner will advance to the National Competition on April 23, 2018 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater, Lincoln Center, New York City
