ESU Kansas City Branch Announces 10 Schools in 37th Annual 2021 Shakespeare Competition
The ESU Kansas City Branch is pleased to announce that ten area high schools have entered the 2021 Shakespeare Competition. This year will be the first that the ESU Kansas City Branch is holding a virtual Shakespeare Competition due to COVID-19 restrictions. Each winner of a school competition will record a performance of a monologue from one of Shakespeare's plays and one of Shakespeare's sonnets, and three Kansas City Branch judges will view those videos to select the Branch winner to represent the Kansas City area in the ESU national competition. In 2020, the ESU national competition used this video format for the first time.

You Are Invited to a Virtual Commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of Churchill's "Sinews of Peace" Speech
Churchill Warned Against the Dangers of the "Iron Curtain"
America's National Churchill Museum will commemorate the 75th anniversary of Winston Churchill's "Sinews of Peace" address, commonly known as the "Iron Curtain" speech, on March 5-6, 2021, when the world will be invited to a free, virtual commemoration, live from the campus of Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. Dignitaries, leaders, and members of the Churchill family will participate from all parts of the world for what promises to be a memorable celebration.
The livestreamed program will begin on Friday, March 5 at 10:00 am (CST) and events will continue until 3 pm (CST).

37th Annual Shakespeare Competition
Deadline for Schools to Register: February 8, 2021
All Kansas City area high schools are invited to our 37th annual Shakespeare Competition. The Competition is open to all high school students grades 9-12. Homeschool students are also welcome to enter. If you are a Theatre, English, Forensics or Debate teacher, we encourage you to enter your school in this exciting competition.
The ESU National Shakespeare Competition is a performance-based education program in which high school students read, analyze, perform and recite Shakespeare's works. Since 1983, the competition has helped more than 400,000 young students develop communication skills and an appreciation for language and literature.
