Become a Student

Become a student and improve your English conversations skills

During the COVID-19 pandemic, English in Action is taking place remotely. Tutor-student pairs are meeting for their weekly conversation platforms on a range of platforms, including Zoom, FaceTime and Google Meet.

We are currently accepting new students. The first step to joining the program is to attend an online registration session. Sign up for an upcoming session,

Student Requirements

Students must be at least 18 years old and have an intermediate understanding of English (Able to read and write in English.).


When do you meet?

Students meet once a week for two hours with their tutors. Conversation sessions are held Monday through Saturday in the mornings, afternoons and evenings. Read the full schedule here.

English in Action Conversations meets at 12 locations in Manhattan. Read the full schedule here.


How much does it cost?

$400 for one year of sessions or $225 for six months of sessions. Some scholarships are available.


Do I need to buy books?

No. Students are not required to buy any books. For students to want additional resources, we have a library with ESL books in our main office.
