HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN’S 90TH BIRTHDAY PARTY CELEBRATED BY THE GREENWICH BRANCH THE ENGLISH SPEAKING UNION

Queen Elizabeth's 90th Birthday was celebrated by The English Speaking Union in Greenwich on 26 June 2016.
Guest speaker, Dr. Paul Beresford-Hill, CBE, National Chairman of the ESU, extolled the historic reign of The Queen. The longest reigning monarch in British history, her first Prime Minister was Winston Churchill and the first American President she received was Harry Truman.
Winners of the Greenwich Shakespeare Competition, Zoe Oliver and Sarah Gold performed their winning monologues. Zoe Oliver also placed second in the National Shakespeare Competition.
Connecticut teachers, Michael Mezzo, Tara Roby and Lindsay Wrinn, who received ESU scholarships to study in the United Kingdom, thanked members for their generosity.
Hats were de rigueur, champagne, scones with strawberry jam and cream were enjoyed by over 200 guests on a picture perfect afternoon at Belle Haven Club.

The Greenwich Branch celebrated The Queen's 91st Birthday with a champagne party, Shakespeare performances, and a welcome from President Natalie Pray at the Belle Haven Club on 25 June 2017.
William Miller, CBE, National Chairman Emeritus of the ESU spoke about The Queen's decades of extraordinary service, and proposed the royal toast.
Jessica Taal, Greenwich High School teacher, recipient of a scholarship to study at Oxford University thanked members for their generosity.
Malenky Welsh who placed first in the Greenwich Shakespeare Competition and was a Finalist in the National Competition, performed a monologue from King Henry VI; and Willow Maya Giannotti-Garlinghouse performed Shakespeare's Sonnet No. 143.
Hats were de rigueur – champagne, scones with strawberry jam and cream, were served with Tea to over two hundred ESU members and guests.
