Missouri ESU Branches Supporting Fine Arts Education Day

The ESU St. Louis and Kansas City Branches were represented at the Fine Arts Education Day at the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City, Missouri, on Wednesday, March 11, 2015.  The purpose of Fine Arts Education Day is to highlight the importance of fine arts education in Missouri schools.

This program is sponsored by the Missouri Alliance for Arts Education which is a consortium of arts education associations that represent dance, theatre, music and visual art. By joining together, these organizations in Missouri speak with a powerful and unified voice about the importance of the arts in Missouri schools.

A Celebration of Harold Pinter

Julian Sands, well known British actor, will present a series of Harold Pinter's poems in a special production titled, A Celebration of Harold Pinter. Sands' performance will be at Polsky Theatre on the campus of Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kan.

ESU members and Friends of ESU--Don't miss this rare opportunity to be part of a program you will not soon forget. Harold Pinter (1930-2008) was one of the most influential modern British dramatists, his writing career spanned more than 50 years.

Spotlight on ESU Kansas City’s Newest Member: Bambi Shen

Meet ESU Kansas City's newest member, Bambi Shen.  The harrowing life story of Bambi stretches across cultures and continents.

Daughter of a Chinese diplomat, Shen was born in French Indochina (now Vietnam). For much of Shen's young life, her mother berated her and repeatedly told her how she wished she'd been born a boy. When Japan took over Vietnam, she and her family endured internment in concentration camps, surviving hunger and bombing air raids, which twice came precariously close to taking her life.

Gerald Charles Dickens presents “A Christmas Carol” In-Person

Charles Dickens' literary masterpiece, A Christmas Carol, continues to shape the way we celebrate Christmas over 150 years after the story of Ebenezer Scrooge and the three spirits of Christmas first touched hearts in 1843.

The ESU Kansas City Branch invites members and Friends of ESU to a group outing to see this special performance by Gerald Charles Dickens.
