Dear ESU Members and Friends,
In this first year as president of the ESU Kansas City Branch, I'm honored to have the support of a strong board of directors with many years of combined service in the ESU as well as strength in many professional career disciplines. As the structure of the board begins to evolve with distinct committees in place, we are well-positioned to address at the Kansas City Branch level the goals set by the ESU's National Strategic Plan which are based on two foundational statements:
Our new fiscal year began July 1, 2018 and our membership renewals are beginning. Your membership is greatly appreciated and especially important in supporting our Mission. The easiest way to renew your membership is by going online: Click here. It only takes a minute and there is no fuss. We want to keep our membership growing and you can help—if you know a friend or relative who would be interested in joining, please tell them about the ESU and the benefits of membership. One of our Kansas City Branch member categories is "Branch Patron." The "Branch Patron" membership includes the member and spouse. A spouse can be a martial spouse or a friend or relative. In addition, "Branch Patrons" receive free admission during the fiscal year to one Kansas City program of their choice in which there is an admission fee. For all other programs and events with an admission fee, Branch Patrons will receive a 25% discount on event fees. Please consider becoming a Branch Patron.
As we introduce a new educational program to the Kansas City Branch, "English in Action Conversations", we are taking an important step in developing "English as a Catalyst" particularly for the immigrant population in Kansas City. In partnership with the Kansas City Public Library, this educational outreach program will present an excellent opportunity for Kansas City ESU members and friends of ESU to participate as volunteer mentors which can be personally self-rewarding while providing needed support to the immigrant community.
As the ESU celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, and our Kansas City Branch celebrates its centenary in two years, we are ready to meet these strategic plans. I am confident our branch's emphasis on educational leadership will benefit and serve more people and generate many more supporters for our educational programs under the ESU's mission.
Many thanks to our members and Friends of ESU for their continued support of the Kansas City Branch of the ESU.
