ESU Members Attend Shakespeare Comedy: Love\u2019s Labour\u2019s Lost, June 25, 2025<\/h2>\n

ESU members attended our annual Festival Group Night spectacular production of Shakespeare’s \u201cLove’s Labour’s Lost\u201d on June 25, 2025. This is one of Shakespeare\u2019s earliest and most beloved comedies written in the mid-1590s before \u201cRomeo and Juliet.\u201d This is the 33rd year for the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival\u2019s production of Shakespeare\u2019s plays at Southmoreland Park. ESU Kansas City Members Attend Production of Julius Caesar by Heart of America Shakespeare Festival<\/h2>\n

On June 26, 2024, ESU Kansas City members attended the Shakespeare political thriller of Julius Caesar by the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival (HASF). It was a spectacular Shakespeare production with powerful performances by the entire cast. The lavish stage scenery was exceptional with colorful period costumes. Everyone had a great time outdoors at Southmoreland Park. The Kansas City ESU Branch Announces the 40th Anniversary of the Dedication of the Winston and Clementine Statue on the Country Club Plaza<\/h2>\n

May 12, 2024 marked the 40th anniversary of the dedication ceremony of the famous bronze statue in Kansas City titled \u201cMarried Love.\u201d In 1984, the ESU Kansas City Branch was a major benefactor to help fund a permanent bronze statue of Winston and Clementine Churchill in a prominent location in Kansas City. The statue was designed by British sculptor Oscar Nemon, who had created several Churchill works. The sculpture is titled, \u201cMarried Love\u201d and at 6 feet by 12 feet, it is a larger version of the original at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, England, where Churchill was born and later proposed to Clementine. <\/h3>\n Read more<\/i><\/a>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Pierre Madlangbayan Wins First Place People\u2019s Choice Award Two Years in a Row<\/h2>\n

Pierre Beatrix Madlangbayan, a senior from Garden City High School, Garden City, Kansas, representing the ESU Kansas City Branch, won First Place in the People\u2019s Choice Award for the second time in two years! Ben Martin Tells Story About Directing A Chorus Line<\/h2>\n

On August 14, ESU members and friends gathered at Roots Seasonal Cuisine in Lee’s Summit for dinner and storytelling by Ben Martin. Ben, at the far end of the table told his experiences directing A Chorus Line in 2010 at Lee’s Summit West High School just before he retired as a 34-year theater teacher in Lee’s Summit High Schools. Ben invited four of his students to the group dinner who were in his production of A Chorus Line. Wonderful stories and memories. The musical that has changed so many lives in a positive way.
