Love\u2019s Labour\u2019s Lost<\/em><\/strong><\/a> is one of Shakespeare\u2019s most popular and endearing comedies. Taking an oath to isolate themselves from the oh-so-trivial distractions of women and LOVE, four men think that a focus on study, self-improvement and celibacy is the key to personal success. But when a Princess and her three companions arrive, the allure of abstinence begins to evaporate\u2026something\u2019s gotta give. Relish the chance to bask in summer love with this early comedy of Shakespeare\u2019s. <\/strong>This is a must-see production by the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival and directed by Sidonie Garrett. <\/strong>ESU members and friends are invited to this special evening on Wednesday, June 25, 2025<\/strong>. Curtain is 8:00 pm. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This promises to be a spectacular production with lavish stage sets, colorful costumes, and featuring an all-star cast. Southmoreland Park is the perfect outdoor setting to bring Love\u2019s Labour\u2019s Lost<\/em><\/strong> to life and share a beautiful evening in the park with friends and family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When: <\/strong>Wednesday, June 25, Curtain is 8:00 pm<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where: <\/strong>Southmoreland Park, just west of the Nelson-Atkins Museum.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seats: <\/strong>We will have reserved seats near the stage at a discounted group price.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

6:30 and 7:15 PM\u2014Pre-Show Parody:<\/strong> The Festival\u2019s teen apprentice troupe called Team Shakespeare presents a hilarious parody of the Festival play. The parody will amuse both children and adults while helping them understand the plot of Love\u2019s Labour\u2019s Lost<\/em><\/strong>. <\/strong><\/em>You will find the performance between the Festival Gate and the seating area. Two performances: 6:30 or 7:15 PM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7:00 PM–Show Talk: <\/strong> “Show Talk,” gives audiences an entertaining and educational preview of the play. Show Talk begins at 7:00 pm located near Festival entrance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8:00 PM\u2014<\/strong>This production runs approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, including a 15-minute intermission. <\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Food Options\u2014<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        A. You may bring your own picnic basket with food and drink items of your choice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

        B. You may purchase food and beverages from the various vendors at the park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        C. Other snacks are available too\u2026funnel cakes, kettle corn, soft drinks, bottled water and more!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parking:<\/strong> <\/strong>Allow yourself plenty of time to park and walk to the Festival’s entrance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carpooling:  <\/strong>If anyone wants to use their car to carpool to reduce the number of cars, let us  know and we will pass along information so members can contact the carpool drivers to make pick up arrangements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Weather:  <\/strong>It’s usually very pleasant in the park by showtime. Watch forecasts and plan accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
