Event – December 7th
Dear Fellow New York Branch Members,
The spring season has gotten off to a very busy start here at the New York Branch, with some entertaining staged readings organized by Louise Muse and performed by our talented branch members and ARNIC students. Thank you to our members and patrons for being as active as ever, keeping the ESU house a buzzing hub of activity.
The Branch selected four scholars from a pool of 25 applicants (see our newsletter for details) for summer study in the UK, and we extend our warmest congratulations to them. We very much look forward to hearing about their adventures in the UK upon their return! The New York Branch National Shakespeare Competition finals took place at the Morgan Library on March 10. Lee Ann Bael, as the winner of the ESU New York Branch competition, will represent the Branch in the ESU National Shakespeare Competition at Lincoln Center Theater's Mitzi Newhouse Theater on May 1, competing with 54 winners of other Branch competitions nationwide. Nakia Smalls earned second place, and Maya Jasinska was awarded third place. The standard was exceptionally high this year, so well done to all who participated.
The ESU celebrates English as a shared language to foster global understanding and good will by providing educational and cultural opportunities for students, educators, and members.
