ESU SNEAKING UP ON SHAKESPEARE
Two-Day Teaching Shakespeare through
Performance Workshops
The University of Tulsa, July 17-18 – Hamlet

The Oklahoma City and Tulsa branches of The English-Speaking Union with the support of The University of Tulsa and Cambridge University, are hosting a Two-day Sneaking up on Shakespeareworkshop: 

Tulsa at The University of Tulsa, July 17-18, Shakespeare's tragedy, Hamlet.

Sneaking up on Shakespeare workshops offer practical, active approaches to teaching Shakespeare and helping students own the language and the plays through collaboration and performance. The focus of this approach is the development of performance-based strategies for teaching Shakespeare. Participants will experience a wide range of active learning strategies and leave with the latest teaching materials. 

Faculty:
Paul Stevenson is a Shakespeare Master Teacher. With over twenty years of teaching experience in Tulsa Public Schools, he conducts performance-based Shakespeare training throughout the Southwest.
Amber Harrington is a Shakespeare Teaching Artist. She teaches Drama at Tulsa's Edison Preparatory School and has had extensive experience leading Shakespeare workshops and with student productions of Shakespeare.
Dr. Laura Stevens is an Associate Professor of English at The University of Tulsa. Her scholarship focuses on the circulation of texts, genres, and ideas around the British Atlantic before 1800, particularly on depictions of colonized peoples, women's literature, religious discourse, and emotion studies.

Sneaking up on Shakespeare workshops are funded by The Oklahoma City and Tulsa Branches of the English-Speaking Union as part of their continuing support of Shakespeare education. 

There is no charge for Oklahoma participants or out of state participants teaching within 150 miles of Tulsa or Oklahoma City (Rogers, Fayetteville, Fort Smith, etc). A $50 reservation fee, check made out to "Tulsa ESU", is required to confirm your reservation. Your check will not be cashed and will be returned upon completion of the workshop with your Certificate of Completion. Participants from outside Oklahoma and the designated area will be charged a $100 non-refundable registration fee. Participants will receive copious handouts, a copy of the Cambridge School Edition of the play, and a CD with all the handouts and additional teaching resources.

After you have submitted your application, you will receive a stamped, preaddressed envelope for your Reservation Fee (Oklahoma and Area Teachers: $50 check made out to "Tulsa ESU" which will be returned, uncashed, upon completion of the workshop.)  Out of State/Area Participants: Non-refundable Reservation Fee, $100 (Check made out to "Tulsa ESU".)
