We had a wonderful evening at the Women’s University Club<\/a> for our \u201cSalute to Scotland.\u201d The food was outstanding as usual, there were many kilts in evidence, a fabulous bagpiper, Neil Hubbard, and a wonderful pianist, Jon Persson.<\/p>\n

Our tables were decorated with red roses and thistles with plaid ribbon and blue napkins folded over white paper to represent the flag of Scotland. Loveday Conquest did yeoman\u2019s duty ironing those napkins!<\/p>\n

We had a great silent auction with many Scottish themed items. Thank you to the generous donors: Judy King, Lori Ann Reinhall, Bill Maschmeier, Fred Kleinschmidt, Loveday Conquest, Tom Lamb, the ESU Board, and me.<\/p>\n

In addition, I gave out some awards personally to people without whom the entire Seattle Branch would collapse: Allison Ellison for the food committee, Fred Kleinschmidt, tireless treasurer of the Branch and the Knoblauch trust as well as running our auctions, Lori Ann Reinhall, our wonderful new website designer and newsletter editor, Loveday Conquest, chair of the Shakespeare program, and party planner extraordinaire, Patricia Haggerty, our administrative assistant, and Bill Maschmeier, our immediate past president, who does all the heavy lifting with National as well as sending out email blasts. If you get a chance, thank them in person.<\/p>\n
