\n A Brief History of the Syracuse Branch of the ESU <\/div>\n \n \n

The origins of our branch go back to 1939 when Richard W. Dundon, a Welsh-American who emigrated to the US in 1927, formed an Anglo-American League in his new home of Syracuse.  <\/span>Its purpose was to temporarily house British children from the bombings of WW II.<\/p>\n

After the war Dundon met with New York City English-Speaking Union official Bill Griffith, and the two groups decided to remake the Syracuse Anglo-American League into a branch of the English-Speaking Union.  <\/span>The official founding of the Syracuse Branch of the E-SU was June 30, 1948, with Richard Dundon as the first president.<\/p>\n

The branch continues today celebrating our past history, such as the traditional garden parties of its early years, to today’s speakers with programs of current interest.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n \n \n\n \n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n<\/section>\n\n\n
