Branch Movie Day – Pirates of Penzance – 7 March 2026 

The branch held its annual movie event at the Alamo theatre on Saturday, 7 March 20206.  Members that attended were charmed and thrilled.   This was the 1983 production with celebrities of the time, Kevin Kline, Angela Lansbury, Linda Ronstadt, George Rose, and Rex Smith. The swashbuckling performances, voices, choreography, were, in a word, marvelous. The talent, not least of all, the gymnastics, together with the tongue-tying lyrics, and the brilliance and creativity of the parodying of Victorian pomp & circumstance, was nothing short of delicious. The whole experience for the members was set in the old dinner theater model, with plush reclining seats and a private screening made for a memorable outing and good, old-fashioned, fun. 

Pirate winner – Junior Division and winner of the jumbo bowl of popcorn, Board-member Holly Britt’s son, James.

A few scenes from the movie are presented below.  It was said by one attendee that Kevin Klein’s cavorting around in those high boots was also, in a word, marvelous!
