ESU members attended our annual Festival Group Night spectacular production of Shakespeare’s “Love’s Labour’s Lost” on June 25, 2025. This is one of Shakespeare’s earliest and most beloved comedies written in the mid-1590s before “Romeo and Juliet.” This is the 33rd year for the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival’s production of Shakespeare’s plays at Southmoreland Park. This comedy was brilliantly directed by Sidonie Garrett who chose a 20th century twist on the original play.
The story, set in the 1950s tells the story of four men who take an oath to avoid women and focus on self-improvement for three years, but things don’t go quite as planned. Pictured (L to R): Doug Pittack, Sam El Dalati, Jeff Schnabel, Corky McCaffrey (not pictured: Ron Worth, Jim Paszkiewicz).
The Show Talk, by Dr. Felicia Londre, gives a historical perspective and explanation of the plot. Click here to listen to Dr. Londre’s talk: https://youtu.be/AclMWfH6zOE It was a delightful, fun evening with a crowd in the hundreds.
