School Registration is Now Open

Kansas City Metro high school English and drama teachers… are you ready to bring Shakespeare to life in your classroom? Students…are you ready to compete with other high school students in the KC metro area? The 2027 ESU National Shakespeare Competition is officially open!

Teachers…give your students the opportunity to step onto the stage, develop their performance skills, build confidence, and compete with students from across the country on stage at Lincoln Center in New York City!

All high schools in the Kansas City metro area (grades 9-12) are invited to participate in ESU’s Annual Shakespeare Competition. For your high school to participate in the Kansas City Branch Competition, a sponsoring teacher will need to organize a competition at your school. The sponsoring teacher also needs to register your school’s competition with the ESU Kansas City Branch. Registration is free.

The deadline to submit the online School Registration Form is February 12, 2027. The deadline to hold your school competition and report your school’s winner to the ESU is February 22, 2027. All materials including the online School Registration Form, teacher and student handbooks, and packets of monologues and sonnets are located here.
