The Colonial NC Branch will kick off the fall season with a lecture by Ruud Stelten in Orringer Auditorium on Saturday, September 26, at 2 p.m. He will discuss the historic “First Salute” on November 16, 1776, when the Dutch governor of St. Eustatius returned a cannon salute to the American brig Andrew Doria, widely considered the first foreign recognition of the United States.
