Denver student performs at the 36th Annual National Shakespeare Competition in New York City

April 30, 2019 — New York City: April 29^th may have been a normal Monday for most high school students, but for Sofie Berg from Denver School of the Arts it will be a day to remember forever. Sofie, student of Shawn Hann, placed as a semifinalist at the 36th Annual National Shakespeare Competition celebrating William Shakespeare's birthday while competing against 50 students from around the US on stage at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater at Lincoln Center Theater. The event is the culmination of a year-long competition hosted by the English-Speaking Union (ESU).

To qualify for the National Shakespeare Competition semi-finals, Sofie won the regional ESU Denver Branch Shakespeare Competition earlier this year.

Social Gathering March 2019

News

Our next social gathering will be Thursday, March 7^th, 7:00 pm, to meet our new scholarship recipients, Dan Anderson and Emily Pool and to cheer on Nicci Guagliardo, who attended Oxford's Creative Writing Program last year, as she competes in Write Club, an open mic night competition at Syntax Physic Opera.  Syntax is a pub with great food, and it's located at 554 S. Broadway, about 2½ blocks south of Alameda. There is a $10 cover, and all proceeds go to a charity of the write club winner's choice!

A review of the 2017-2018 Denver Branch Program Year with reports from the Branch President, Treasurer and Committee Chairs; recognition and thanks to outgoing Board Members; a presentation of the slate of Board Member and Officer candidates by the Nominating Committee; and the election of new Board Members and Officers.
