Take your teaching of Shakespeare to another level. Go beyond the Bard’s words on the page and discover Shakespeare in the context that brought his works to life. Our three-week, intensive Teaching Shakespeare Through Performance summer course at Shakespeare’s Globe in London will provide you with new perspectives and invaluable experiences that will transform the way you teach Shakespeare.

This program is ideally suited for inquisitive, adventurous Middle or High School teachers with experience teaching English Literature or Drama willing to work outside their comfort zone. Although participants engage with Shakespeare’s work as texts to be performed, not simply read, “Teaching Shakespeare Through Performance” is not an acting program. The course is delivered with the knowledge that teachers may have training or experience with performance-based methods of teaching Shakespeare. Applicants must be currently working as classroom teachers.

TSTP 2025 Program Cost: $5200 includes tuition and tickets to three Globe productions.

TSTP 2025 Accommodation Cost: $2500+ Participants must make own accommodations in London. Please see The Globe’s TSTP Guide to Accommodation & the Local Area for a list of suggested, nearby accommodation options.

Not Included: international airfare,  accommodations,  travel insurance, medical insurance, or any other incidentals. Applicants must provide proof of overseas health insurance with their application.

Please note, this is a dynamic, but intensive program — we strongly recommend no friends, family members, or children of any age or pets accompany you or be accommodated at housing during any part of this high-level, residential program.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR TEACHERS

Every year, ESU Branches nationwide generously provide TLab scholarships for classroom teachers in their communities. You may also explore further scholarship and grant resources from your local schools and communities.
